RESERVATION FAQs

Yes, you can reserve tables during our regular hours at no charge. To ensure ample seating for walk-ins, we limit reservations to half of our covered seating at any given time. Please note that we are unable to hold unused tables exclusively for your group.

Commercial events and fundraisers are not allowed during our regular hours. To check availability for a reservation for your group, please use above contact form or email info@riggsbeer.com

We look forward to accommodating your group and appreciate your understanding of our reservation policies.

We assume that reservations are for 2 hours or less. If you need additional time, let us know ahead of time and we will try to accommodate.

We always welcome our regular guests during our standard hours (Thurs/Fri 3pm-10 pm, Sat noon-10 pm, Sun noon-8pm). For exclusive events outside these hours, our facility is available for rental starting at $450. For more details, please reach out to us at info@riggsbeer.com

During our regular hours, private rooms aren’t available for rent. However, if you’re reserving tables, you have the option of choosing from the main tap room, the open beer garden, the game room, or the party porch. None of these areas can be fully closed off to other visitors. The main tap room accommodates approximately 85 people, the beer garden seats over 200, the game room accommodates about 10, and the party porch seats around 60. Please note that the beer garden is an open area without rain cover, while the party porch, although unconditioned, is fully enclosed, providing safety in case of rain or inclement weather.

While booking an entire room or space isn’t possible, if you have a preference for the location of your reserved tables, let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Yes, you can. We are happy to accommodate rehearsal dinners, wedding ceremonies, and receptions if they don’t conflict with our day-to-day business. We don’t charge you extra just because you mention the word “wedding”. We are a great spot for the casual couple that is looking for a budget-friendly option for their small wedding. However, it’s essential to note that we may not be the best fit if you’re envisioning a traditional, fully private wedding space with formal elements like white linens, plated dinners, and extended DJ-fueled dancing throughout the night.

In addition to our tasty beers, we serve a variety of wine, cider, soda, juice, lemonade, iced tea, coffee, … we even have juice boxes for kids. We don’t serve any hard liquor. All beverages must be purchased from us. No beverages can be brought in. For our beverage menu, please click here.

No. You can always get free water from us at the bar. In the summer, we also have a water station in the beergarden. Please refrain from bringing any outside beverage containers onto the premises. This includes plastic water bottles, Yetis, Stanley’s, Thermos’, …

While we don’t provide any beverage packages, you have the flexibility to pay for what you consume. Manage your expenses by running a tab for your party or distributing tickets for a specific amount of beverages to your guests (refer to details below).

Private individuals (non-liquor license holders) have the opportunity to directly purchase kegs from the brewery. It’s important to note that this option is exclusively for off-premise consumption, such as hosting a party at your residence. Please be aware that kegs cannot be bought for consumption within our taproom or beer garden.

We don’t have a kitchen, but we usually have one or more food trucks in our parking lot during our peak hours. You are welcome to grab a bite from the food truck and bring it into the taproom / beergarden. You can find the full food truck schedule here. In the event that the food truck’s offerings don’t suit your preferences, feel free to bring food from home or order delivery. However, kindly note that external beverages are not permitted

Within the guidelines: Since we don’t have a kitchen, we allow customers to bring in their own food.

During our main hours, a variety of food trucks are available, and we recommend exploring the daily offerings for the freshest options. You can find a food truck schedule here. Our food trucks partners are always happy to work with you to “cater” your party.

It’s important to note that we do not provide plates, silverware, or serving ware. If you plan to work with a caterer, require additional space for food setup, or have any specific needs, please consult with us before confirming your reservation. We’ll make every effort to accommodate your requests.

Please ensure any outside food brought in is fully prepared for consumption. Cooking or preparation on-site, including the use of popcorn/cotton candy machines, smores, grills, candy or ice cream bars, is not allowed. Additionally, we kindly request refraining from bringing items such as sprinkles, caramel, caramel-coated popcorn, or intensely colored icing, including blue or other vivid colors.

Because we don’t have a kitchen, you may work with any licensed caterer to provide food for your party. As a first stop, we suggest starting with one of our regular food trucks, as they are experienced in catering events at our venue and can offer the freshest options for your occasion.

Should the food truck not align with your preferences, we can provide a list of recommended caterers familiar with our facility, ensuring exceptional food and service.

Before finalizing a caterer, we request that they coordinate with us to confirm space availability and necessary amenities. Please note that on-site cooking by caterers is not permitted; they are required to bring fully prepared foods. Any specific space requirements for catering or food setup must be discussed before confirming your reservation.

In most cases, there is no fee for bringing in your own caterer. However, if substantial additional space is needed for setup and service, a fee may be applicable

Yes, large groups have the option to arrange for a tent setup through a professional tent installation company. It’s important to note that Riggs will not cover any associated costs or permits. All requests for tents must be discussed and confirmed with Riggs before finalizing your reservation for the event

Within the guidelines: You can decorate in your designated area.

However, there are certain restrictions to ensure a family-friendly and easily manageable environment. Please refrain from setting signage outside your designated area, by the road, or near the front door.

All decorations should be family-friendly, easily removable, and simple to clean up; hence, no confetti, glitter, or balloons filled with confetti/glitter are permitted. It is strictly prohibited to use tape, ties, or any attachments on walls, furniture, windows, etc. to avoid damage.

If you wish to incorporate candles, ensure they are placed in fireproof containers like glass jars or metal lanterns. Balloons attached to weights, table runners, or small centerpieces have been successful in previous events.

It’s crucial to note that you are responsible for any damages to furniture or walls resulting from your decorations. Additionally, the inflation of balloons or arrangement of flowers on-site is not permitted; all decorations must be brought in ready for immediate use.

When making your reservation, ensure to communicate any required set-up time with Riggs. It is essential to confirm space availability before your guests arrive for setup. For instance, if your reservation is for 6 pm, please be aware that the space may be occupied by another group until the specified time, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon.

We will ensure that your tables are promptly cleaned and prepared at the agreed-upon time. Should you arrive before the designated time, please be aware that the tables might still be in use by other customers. If you plan to work with a caterer or have a family member handle early decoration/setup, kindly inform them of the applicable restrictions.

We will uphold your reservation for up to 15 minutes beyond the agreed-upon time. In the event of a delay, kindly contact the taproom promptly at 217-718-5345, allowing us to make necessary adjustments to your reservation.

No. We are not event planners, caterers, or professional decorators. Because our fees are either extremely low or non-existent, we don’t provide much in the way of event planning. We’d be happy to give recommendations for event planners, caterers, florists, and other companies that we’ve successfully worked with in the past. We’d also be happy to coordinate with your contractors to make sure they have all the amenities they need / confirm that they comply with our rules.

There is no fee to reserve a couple of tables during our regular hours. However, please note that if you haven’t claimed your table within 15 minutes of the agreed-upon time, we consider the reservation void, and the table will not be held any longer. If you are running late, call the tap room at 217-718-5345. Your tables will be ready at the reserved time, but not before.

Please contact Riggs right away. With sufficient advance notice, cancellations typically incur no costs, and we can cancel your event without any charges. If you need to cancel on short notice, please call the taproom at 217-718-5345..

We will furnish all tables, chairs, and benches for your party. If you require additional side tables for gifts or food setup, or if you wish to rearrange any tables, please inform us when making your reservation, and we will confirm our ability to accommodate your request.

Should you need access to electrical outlets, kindly notify us in advance.

For all-private events, you have the option to connect to our sound system (indoors only). Additionally, we can provide a projector, microphone, and speaker. However, the use of our equipment is contingent on it not causing disruption to our regular customers. Customers will be held responsible for any damage to the equipment.

Probably not. For a private event we may be able to work with you. But during our regular hours, we don’t allow external music to be brought in.

Yes, we offer complimentary Wi-Fi in our taproom, and you are welcome to use it during your event. We kindly ask that you be mindful of volume levels and other factors that could potentially disturb other customers.

Maybe. For a private event, when we’re normally closed, the facility is yours and you can utilize it for whichever purpose you choose (within the guidelines).

However, if you reserve tables during our regular hours, selling items or displaying corporate or political signage is not permitted. In essence, we aim to ensure our regular customers are not exposed to commercial or political pressure within our facility.

Yes, we’d be happy to arrange brewery tours for your group. If you wish to include a tasting of all our beers, there is a charge of $15 per person.

For private tours, we can tailor the experience to your preferences. A suitable group size for a tour is approximately 15 people.

Prior to confirming your reservation, please engage in discussions with us about any tour requests. We do not have tour guides readily available, and we must schedule tours around our production schedule. Please keep this in mind when making arrangements for tours with your group

It’s unlikely. During our regular hours, please refrain from bringing large toys, sparklers, chalk, and other items. Avoid bringing paint, glitter, or confetti. Activities like pumpkin carving, smores making, flower arranging, or paintball are not allowed. If you plan on doing anything out of the ordinary, please discuss it when making your reservation.

If you have booked our facility for a private event, please check on an individual basis. Insurance requirements need to be met and Riggs’ approval is necessary. Please check with Riggs beforehand to discuss any unique plans for your private event.

Maybe. We have some outlets throughout our facility and beer garden and we usually don’t mind letting you use them. If you anticipate needing access to an outlet or extension cords, please inform us in advance so we can ensure feasibility.

Yes, children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. During the summer, they can enjoy the playground in our beer garden.

To quench the little ones thirst, we offer juice boxes, lemonade, and more.

It’s important to note that children must be supervised at all times.

Yes, kids are welcome, but need to be supervised by an adult at all times. Although our beer garden gives kids a lot of room to run around, be aware that our facilities are not child-proof. Parents are responsible for closely monitoring their children of all ages, and they will be held liable for any damage to the property caused by their children.

We have a playground for smaller children and some board games for older ones.

We ask parents to ensure that kids don’t use features of our beer garden that aren’t intended for child play. Those include: bags games, our cats, the fire pit, flower beds, water faucets, trees … Parents will be held liable for any damage caused to these items.

Parents are welcome to bring additional toys but are encouraged to refrain from bringing items that might be disliked by other parents (such as water guns or face paint) or items that are challenging to clean up (like play-dough, glitter, stickers, paint, silly string).

It’s important to note that both kids and adults are not allowed to ride bikes, scooters, or similar items in the beer garden or around the parking lot.

Dogs or other pets, unless documented service animals, are not permitted inside the taproom. However, well-behaved, leashed dogs are more than welcome in our beer garden. For direct access, there is a gate on the South side of the building.

Just a friendly heads up, Riggs cats freely roam our beer garden, so be sure to let your dog know!

Uber and other local cab companies provide convenient transportation to our facility. The approximate fee for a trip from Riggs Beer Company to downtown Urbana or Champaign is $15.

Feel free to leave your car here overnight, as we only tow cars that are left for extended periods of time.

No, we do not have an ATM on-site. However, we accept all credit and debit cards. Keep in mind that some of our food trucks may operate on a cash-only basis, so it’s advisable to check our website if you plan on purchasing food from them.

The production side of our brewery is typically locked. However, if you wish to use it as a backdrop for pictures and we’re not too busy, we’d be delighted to provide you with supervised access. It can make for some fantastic photos.

Riggs Beer Company closes at 10 pm (8 on Sundays). A few minutes prior to 10 pm, we do last call. If you would like us to open early or stay open later, please contact us and we can figure out a solution on a case by case basis.

We will handle the cleaning of facilities, glassware, and the disposal of your trash. However, we do require that you take all your personal belongings with you, and we insist that all vendors clean up before they leave. Please note that we cannot store items for caterers.

Additionally, we kindly request that you clean up any decorations you may have set out. Avoid bringing items that require unusual cleanup (such as glitter, confetti, confetti-filled balloons, colored icing, and sprinkles), and be aware that you are liable for any damage to our furniture and property, whether caused by you, your guests, or your vendors.

Yes, absolutely. You have the option to cover the entire tab for your group. To do so, simply leave a credit/debit card at the bar before the start of your event, and Riggs can provide wristbands to identify your group.

If you wish to set any limits on the total dollar amount, restrict the selection to certain beverages, or limit the time your tab is open, please inform us in advance.

It’s important to note that your guests will still be required to provide an ID to confirm they are of drinking age before being served alcoholic beverages.

If you prefer to buy only the first round or a specific number of drinks, a ticket system is an effective solution. Simply purchase a roll of stock tickets or print customized tickets for your event. Distribute these tickets to your guests.

Before the event starts, leave a card with our bar staff along with a sample of the tickets you’ll be using.

During the event, guests can present these tickets at the bar in exchange for a beverage. Our staff will record the beverages they ‘purchase’ with the tickets.

At the end of the night, we tally up the tickets and charge you only for the consumed beverages. This system allows you the flexibility to give more tickets to some guests than others. Additionally, if a guest forgets their ticket, there will be no charge.

We can run a tax exempt tap, but require your tax exempt certificate prior to opening a tab. Please provide us with a copy.

Our insurance / permits cover our day-to-day business. If you are looking to set up a water slide, a tent, a grill, or plan to do anything else that is out of the ordinary, please check with us ahead of time for insurance / permit requirements.
